About Us
Our Mission:
To serve the Virginia Military Institute community by providing emergency medical services with the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and competence.
History:
VMI EMS started in 1996 as the "VMI EMS Club" where they provided support on an as needed basis to major VMI events such as graduation and parades. In the beginning, the EMS Club could not provide continuing education to its members, and they were only able to respond to incidents on foot! In 1996, there were only eight EMTs in the club.
Today, VMI EMS is a fully accredited non-transport BLS agency. There is not a single event that occurs at VMI where a Cadet-EMT is not present! Today's VMI EMS is staffed by over 70 Cadet-EMTs and receives funding and support from the Virginia Military Institute.
