LEXINGTON, Va., May 3, 2018—For the first time in recent memory, VMI’s club lacrosse team is vying for the National College Lacrosse League championship. The championship games will be played this weekend, May 5-6, at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Alumni and friends of the Institute are encouraged to come out and support the team.

VMI advanced to the championships after winning the Blue Ridge & Tidewater Conference title April 28 with wins over Lynchburg College and Virginia Commonwealth University. The Institute, which began the season unranked, is ranked third nationally going into the championships.

Under the guidance of first-year coach Lt. Col. Kevin Faust '96, assistant commandant, the team has posted a 15-1 record against Division II opponents, with the only loss being a one-point defeat to the defending national champion at the University of Maryland’s Beltway Bash tournament.
