J. Conrad Garcia earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, with honors, from New Mexico State University in 1994. In 1997, he earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he received the Washington & Lee Merit Scholarship.
As chair of the tax section of Williams Mullen, Garcia advises businesses and individuals on domestic and international tax planning, including complex business and investment transactions. His practice is focused on the taxation of acquisitions, disposition, tax deferred exchanges, REIT transactions, tax credits and tax-exempt organizations. He also counsels clients on various tax structures including complex domestic joint ventures and complex syndications involving New Market, Low Income Housing and Historic Rehabilitation tax credits.
Garcia is the current chair of LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) Virginia’s Local Advisory Committee; current member and immediate past chair of Childsaver’s Endowment Fund Board of Directors, member of the Community Impact Committee of the Richmond Community Foundation, member of St. Christopher’s School Board of Governors, member of the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Educational Foundation Board of Directors, and a member of Williams Mullen’s Board of Directors.
