The Virginia Military Institute began its search for a new superintendent on Oct. 29, 2020 when BOV President Boland appointed Gene Scott '80, member of the VMI Board of Visitors, as chair of the Superintendent Search Committee.
The revised timeline for the search, and meeting schedule is as follows. Any meetings to be livestreamed will be done so directly on this page the day of the meeting. Following the conclusion of the meeting, they will be available through a link. Please note, this page will be updated with any changes to, or confirmation of, the schedule below.
The VMI Board of Visitors will hold a public meeting on Thursday, 15 April 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. via video teleconference at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. The board will meet for the purpose of notifying the public of their intent to vote on the selection of the next Superintendent of the Institute. The meeting will be streamed live on this page. The Board of Visitors will receive public comments only on matters pertaining to the meeting between 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., 15 April 2021. Individuals must pre-register and will need to provide the following information via email: name, email, phone number, VMI affiliation, (e.g. cadet, faculty member, employee, alumni, parent, or member of the public), and request for any reasonable accommodations. The deadline for pre-registration is 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, 14 April 2021. Please note in the subject line that you are registering to speak during the public comment. Registration requests should be sent to Lt Col Sean Harrington at harringtonsp@vmi.edu. You may also call (540) 464-7132 with any questions.Should you have any interruption with the video broadcast of the meeting, please contact the VMI Communications and Marketing office at (540) 464-7207. Speakers will proceed in the order of pre-registration and should be entered into the meeting at 10:00 a.m. to facilitate meeting operations. Speakers will be limited to three (3) minutes apiece.
